We offer group training several times yearly, focusing on races in our area. The basic programs and cost are listed below.
This program offers novice runners the opportunity to move from walking to running, and to train for and complete a 5K race. Included in this program are weekly schedules, one group run, e-mail contact and advice, as well as accompaniment and pacing for the goal race. Registrants must be comfortable with the concept of running or walking three days a week, with a beginning duration of ten minutes per run, and an eventual goal of 35 minutes by program end. This instructional introduction to running and road racing lasts 6 weeks.
12 week Half Marathon Program:
This schedule is geared toward the intermediate runner who would like to prepare for and run a race ranging from the 10K to half-marathon distance. This program includes weekly schedules, a nutrition work-up, daily e-mail contact and advice, as well as one group run and one training session per week. Runners must be comfortable running five days per week, for a minimum of 30 minutes in duration. The program lasts 12 weeks.
18 week Marathon program:
Our marathon program was developed for beginning marathoners who have already mastered long runs over 10 miles and are comfortable with the idea of training 5 days a week, with two challenging runs included. This 18 week program includes weekly scheduling, a more in-depth nutrition work-up, a personalized stretching program, daily e-mail contact and advice, two structured runs per week, as well as several races of shorter distance for fitness testing during marathon preparation. Runners should be comfortable running for 45 minutes to an hour several times weekly, and eager to stretch their running to the next level.
This is designed for returning runners who have decided to set a personal goal at their chosen race distance. Included in this program will be much more specialized coaching based on past performance and future goals. All of the amenities of the 18 week Marathon program are included, as well as more individualized coaching. Because registrants will be familiar with our techniques and we will be familiar with their abilities, we are able to offer this program for the same rate as the 12 week program.
Once any runner has completed 3 training cycles with Run, Chicks, Run, they are invited to join us in any group long runs at no charge. As our intent is always to educate as well as coach, you will be fluent in our methodology and probably proficient at setting your own paces and goals. Nonetheless, if you’d like us to tweak your numbers, it will be our pleasure. We sincerely hope to have each runner join us for training beyond their goal races, and look forward to being challenged by and learning things from you as you progress on your journey towards understanding and maintaining your own running.
Jumpstart Cross Country Camp:
We offer a late summer cross country camp for girls in the 4th-10th grades. The camp was developed to give young cross country runners a “jumpstart” with their training prior to the season. It is a 10-day camp and features an introduction to training, nutrition, goal-setting and racing.
